NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course

"Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely."

What to expect to learn:

• This course is 8 to 10 hours long depending on class size. Includes approximately 4 hours classroom and 4 hours range time.

• Learn the basic pistol and revolver differences.

• Learn rules for safe gun handling.

• Learn basic pistol operation and how to identify it parts.

• Learn the difference in calibers and ammunition.

• Learn range rules and proper shooting etiquete.

• Learn basic pistol shooting fundamentals such as breathing, sight picture and trigger control.

• Learn to shoot from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions

• Learn to properly clean, maintain and store your pistol.

• Learn opportunities for skill development.

NRA Basic pistol Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate.

What do I need to bring:

• An open mind and a willingness to learn safe firearms handling.

• Classroom: your may bring your personal firearm only, prefably cased, unloaded and NO LIVE AMMUNITION in the training room.

• We will break for lunch while driving to the range.

• Range: You will need your Firearm and at least 50 rds of ammo. Please bring appropriate outerwear for the weather, eye and ear protection and include sunscreen, bug repellant, and plenty of water.


• $150 Per person must have a minimum of two students. We will schedule this class to fit your needs.
